CS:GO Essentials for Beginners

  • Share:

Despite Counter-Strike: Global Offensive being one of the greatest multiplayer first-person shooters of all time, many people have still not yet dipped their toes into the CS:GO world. It’s true that the game can be pretty complex compared to other games, and it will take time to master, but you shouldn’t let that put you off playing the game. Indeed, it’s the game’s many threads and layers that help to make it so appealing. There are eight official game modes, but the basic game involves pitting two teams against each other as terrorists and counter-terrorists. The counter-terrorists have to do things like stop the terrorists planting bombs. If you’re a CS:GO newbie, here are some of the most essential things you need to know.

Your Settings Matter

There are tons of customization options in CS:GO, so make sure you spend time customizing the settings to your own preference. The default option is rarely the best choice. As you start to become more familiar with playing the game, you can continue to change your settings until they’re optimal for your specific competitive performance needs.

Don’t Run Before You Can Walk

If you like fiery and explosive games, there are plenty to choose from, such as Valorant and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. There are even fiery online casino games like the stacked fire 7s slot game, which is hotter than a Swedish Torch. But despite the gaming market being full of other great games, CS:GO is still the best. One way in which CS:GO ensures gamers are capable of participating in the competitive game is by requiring players to achieve a Private Rank 2 status before they are allowed to start a ranking experience. Therefore, as a new player, you’re forced to get to grips with the basic gameplay before you can participate in matches. The best game mode for newbies to start with is Deathmatch. You can either choose your weapon from the Buy Menu or access random weapons. Playing Deathmatch is a good way of getting to know different weapons and which ones you like using most to suit your playstyle.

Stop Before You Shoot

Speaking of not running before you can walk, in the metaphorical sense, one thing every CS:GO beginner needs to be aware of is that you must be standing still in the game in order to shoot. That can surprisingly take time to get to grips with. The easiest way of ensuring you’re standing still is to simply not hold a movement key anymore. Your character will start to slow down and then come to a halt. A more efficient but more difficult way of getting your character to stop is to use the counter-strafing method. It involves countering the action you’re doing by pressing the opposite key. For example, if you’re moving to the left, press the right key to counter the movement. As you do so, your character will come to a stop and you can then kick ass by firing your weapon.

Become Familiar with the Lay of the Land

Playing CS:GO requires committed teamwork and excellent map knowledge. While it will take time to learn maps in detail, and you don’t need to know every square inch, it’s crucial that you’re fully aware of what the overall map looks like if you want to be a successful player.

Don’t Be Predictable

While it may sound obvious, it’s worth mentioning all the same: don’t be predictable. If you want to be a successful CS:GO player, you need to keep your opponents guessing. So, don’t always hide in the exact same spot or use the same attack strategy. As you become more familiar with the game, you’ll be able to come up with more effective and ingenious strategies to remain unpredictable in your actions and defeat your enemies.
